B.C. and Potter-mania: at least 10,000 books sold here so far

Potter-crazed fans who lined Vancouver streets for the final book in the series about beloved boy magician Harry Potter were among 10,000 across B.C. who contributed to record sales for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows over the weekend.It will go down in history as the fastest and best-selling book for Indigo Books Canada, owner of Chapters, Coles and Indigo stores, said Charlene Kettlewell, Chapters marketing manager for western Canada. Three books per second were sold at the chain's "Midnight Magic" events from coast to coast.The Independent newspaper in the U.K. said some 20 million copies were estimated to have been sold around the globe in the first day.Vancouver's own Raincoast books,which publishes the series in Canada, could not be reached for comment.
