Stefani's 'Sweet Escape' show promises a glitzy getaway

The G girl is back in town with another eye-popping, glamour-packed show.Gwen Stefani, who rose to fame in the early '90s as lead singer of Orange County, Calif., ska-rock band No Doubt, brings her "Sweet Escape" tour to the White River Amphitheatre for a high-stepping, lavishly costumed concert extravaganza Saturday night. She'll share the stage with British hip-hop star Lady Sovereign and Atlanta-based rapper Akon, the West African native who stirred controversy earlier this year when he danced dirty with a 14-year-old girl in Trinidad. The tour is Stefani's biggest to date, with 40 stops in North America. Married to Gavin Rossdale of rock band Bush (they have a young son, Kingston), the platinum-blond bombshell is enjoying a good run this year, despite a less-than-thrilling new album. "The Sweet Escape."
